Our Story

Oxford-born book obsessed brothers Kevin and Geoff set-up Joynson-Bruvvers Ltd (JBL) in 1973 to publish academic books, mailordered worldwide. Starting out with single print room and mail order operation, accidentally they became resellers of workplace supplies...

As global supplies ran short during the early 70's fuel crisis, the brothers were approached by other local businesses wanting to buy envelopes and paper otherwise stockpiled for their busy print operation. To help out they let some stationery stock go and got on with printing. But the customers kept coming back. JBL's founding principles of attention to detail, re-investment in the business and exceptional personal service built strong client relationships. And so the brothers expanded into selling supplies first by mailorder, but requests soon followed to supply everything for their clients' offices.

The brothers went with their instincts. With sales of the revolutionary Casio calculator selling in their 10,000s mailorder, they opened Oxfordshire's first office furniture, machines and equipment showrooms in 1979.

By the 1980s JBL had evolved into workplace design and furniture installations alongside stationery supplies, working with interior designers to deliver concept to completion. JBL became early stockists of iconic UK and Scandinavian seating brands and forged lasting links with some of the best UK and European contract furniture factories.

Still family owned and run, still using our own vans and delivery drivers, still offering exceptional personal service. Our 50+ years' experience and insight has earned JBL a reputation for straight forward independent advice, delivering client needs with exceptional after-care.
