A new approach
Hedges Managing Director Nicola and her Interior Designer Lesley Ann Gentry approached us to help with their flagship concept space; to create from scratch a new walk-in experience for customers of legal services in an exclusive Oxford location.
Interior Designer Lesley Ann Gentry was free to use our showroom to reference our furniture fabrics and finishes against scheme's wider textures, fittings and finishes she was choosing for the build, and we always took physical furniture samples and finishes to site when key decisions had to be made to keep the project on track.
Our key roles included: early stage consultancy on use of space planning with physical walk throughs during planning and build phases, advising on suitability of materials, specifying utility locations and front of house layout and design, and workplace furniture design and build. Furniture installation works were done out of hours or over weekends to hit opening deadline.
As well as furniture matters, we advised on every element of street view window dressing and presentation including infoscreens, planting scheme, drinks point and signage. We also had the pleasure of spending time with Nicola's dogs during installations, who felt straight at home in the new space.
Reception, tables and seating were largely bespoke UK made pieces made within one hour of site, mixed with hand-picked refurbished back office furniture of good quality making sustainable choices complement the wider scheme.
To inform dimensions and front of house layout we prototyped reception furniture onsite to make sure use of space was optimised before committing to the bespoke build.
It was a pleasure to help make Nicola and Lesley Ann's vision happen, to tight time scales, with the attention to detail the project demanded.
The end result is a functional, elegantly understated welcoming space that's highly visible from streetview to footfall and traffic of both directions through one of Oxford's busiest streets.
