Helping hand
Oxfordshire Mind reached out following a devastating flood which rendered the whole ground floor of their HQ building uninhabitable. With budgets prioritised for frontline services, we felt we could help get the building up and running at low cost, and improve how the space looks and functions.
As part of our commitment to ESG we offered our expertise, time and resources pro bono wherever possible to make a difference to an organisation very local to us, where help was needed.
With very limited budget and time to repair and refit the whole ground floor, we wanted to help target resources where they would have the biggest improvement, always with an eye on sustainability and quality. Following pro bono site surveys and CAD planning work, the client chose new formats for reception, offices, meeting rooms and kitchen areas they liked, and took the opportunity to make positive changes and improvements.
We took care of as many details as we could to get an onbrand look and feel to as many spaces as time and budget allowed. Together we saved, repaired or upcycled as much of the salvageable furniture as possible from our workshop three miles away, as well as supplying hand-picked donated furniture. Cost-effective signage and wall mounted branding completed the look.
Where new items were required, we supplied good condition modular or stackable refurbished furniture that offers flexible use. Room layouts can now be quickly changed by one person for everyday time saving and to mitigate against future flood damage risk should items need to be moved quickly. We also facilitated donations from some of our other clients' premises as well as our own, with donations including seating, tables, whiteboards and kitchen equipment.
We thoroughly enjoyed working with Oxfordshire Mind's team. The end result is an improved, more flexible use of space for the buildings ever-changing events schedule, considered decorating schemes, and a reception area that communicates brand values and reflects the welcoming and caring character of Oxfordshire Mind, it's staff and volunteers.
